With just 4 simple ingredients these chocolate peanut butter pretzel energy balls come together in minutes and make the perfect quick and filling snack the whole family will love. Plus they keep for a long time in the refrigerator! If they last that long…
If you subscribe to The Healthy Maven’s email list you’ll know that each Sunday we’ve been sending out a meal plan and accompanying grocery list to make meal and snack time a little easier right now. While I may be a fan of flexible meal planning, we’re in a different season of life right now that calls for a bit more structure. If I can make this process easier for you while also keeping meal time enjoyable then I’ll have done my job well. That’s why so many of the recipes you’re seeing here lately are easy, simple and pantry-staples. I want you to still find joy in food and expand beyond that 15th bowl of chili!
This includes snack time which let’s be real, we’re doing a whole of these days. I want your snacks to feel exciting and fun. I want you to feel empowered to get creative and I want you to try something new. That’s why I’m taking a classic THM recipe for chocolate peanut butter energy balls and adding a fun twist – pretzels! A little sweet and salty if you will.
And if you have kiddos at home, this is a great activity to get them involved in cooking. Those little hands can roll balls just like the best of them! so put them to work and enjoy these chocolate peanut butter pretzel energy balls. I promise you will all love them.
What You Need For This Recipe:
- Medjool Dates (other types of dates work too!)
- Natural Peanut Butter (make sure it’s drippy)
- Cocoa or Raw Cacao Powder
- Pretzels! Feel free to sub gluten-free pretzels here if necessary
Yes…that’s it! Just 4 ingredients for the best energy balls ever.
Food Processor vs. Blender?!
Honestly, either will work though I personally prefer the food processor. This recipe will work in a high-speed blender like a Vitamix (I have this one) but I’ve yet to try it in something like a nutribullet. Personally I’d stick to the food processor but in a pinch you can definitely use a high-speed blender.
How To Store Energy Balls
I get this question all the time! “How should you be storing energy balls”? I always store mine in the fridge with a quick firm up in the freezer right after I make them. I store them in a glass container that’s fully sealed and they’ll keep for up the two weeks in the fridge (if they last that long). If you want to ensure they last longer store them in the freezer for up to 6 months.
